2015/2/10 17:20

Edith: The politician charged with vote-buying should really cherish his life.

Leo: Why do you say that? Did he say or do anything stupid?

Edith: Well, actually, he swore on his life to prove his innocence! But just the other night, he's got arrested at the airport over bribery.

Leo: You're right. He really shouldn't have jumped the gun. But are you sure that he's really going to commit suicide or something? Or will he also use fish to replace himself?

Edith: Oh, boy! No wonder the number of fish is shrinking.

The speaker of the council charged with vote-buying might be stripped of his seat.

swear on…. 以……發誓
例:The two-timer swore on his reputation that he didn't cheat on his wife.
* two-timer (n.)

innocence [`ɪnəsns] (n.)

bribery [
`braɪbərɪ] (n.)

You'd better think twice and don't jump the gun.

shrink [ʃrɪŋk] (v.)
