能運用商務和社交英語單字於廣泛情境中進行良好溝通。文法和流暢度不會影響溝通,但需要使用更適當的字彙去避免誤解。

Can communicate well in a variety of situations using business and social English vocabulary. Grammar and fluency don't affect communication, but s/he needs to use appropriate vocabulary to avoid misunderstandings.


能和一群母语人士在商务或社交场合中有效沟通。文法和流畅度不会影响沟通。但需要更加了解英语的用法以减少沟通问题。

can communicate effectively with a group of native speakers in a business environment or social situation. Grammar and fluency don't affect communication. However, s/he needs to better understand English language usage to reduce communication problems.


能在任何商务或社交情境中有效沟通。文法错误和流畅度不会影响沟通。需要加强非常特殊且难度较高之商务和社交字汇。

can communicate effectively in any business or social situation. Grammar mistakes and fluency doesn't affect communication. S/he needs to improve very specific and high level business and social vocabulary.


Listening

能聽懂各類主題的談話、辯論、演講、報導及節目等,並能參與業務會議或談判,聽懂報告及討論的內容。但無法聽懂各國特殊用語及特殊主題內容。 實例:能聽懂關於世界盃足球賽相關之新聞報導或賽況轉播內容,但由於不熟悉各國用語,因此無法聽辨英式英語中的football即為soccer(足球),而美式英語中的soccer為足球,football則為美式橄欖球。

Student is able to understand conversations, debates, speeches reports and programs under various topics. But s/he cannot understand English idioms and slang terms. E.g. Student understands live broadcast of FIFA World Cup. The student does not familiar the language used in different countries, so s/he does not identify that "football" in British English is soccer. In American English, football is similar to rugby.

Speaking

能在會議中發言,並能做簡報。對於各類主題皆能流暢地表達看法、參與討論。但尚未能掌握各國慣用詞語及參與各種會議討論。 實例:能針對歐美電影文化流暢地表達個人分析與見解,但由於不熟悉英美對於shoot、film和movie的用法以及其他各國慣用詞語,而無法參與各種國際性電影論壇或研討會。

Student is able to make English presentations and participate actively in English meetings, as well as express personal opinions and thoughts and discuss them on various issues in fluent English. But s/he is not able to express personal opinions and thoughts and discuss them on various issues in fluent English. E.g. The student is able to analyze European-American movie culture and is also able to express his/her personal opinions. But s/he is not able to participate in international film seminars because s/he is not familiar with the usage of shoot, film and movie or other common word usage in film industry.

Reading

"能閱讀較深入的工作摘要、會議紀錄及報告等。但無法閱讀專業領域之文章。 實例:能閱讀較深入的產品設計專案或內部設備進出口協商會議之紀錄,但由於專業詞彙增加,而無法閱讀與產品設計或機器設備相關之專業介紹期刊。 "

The student is able to read and understand more advanced professional English articles such as meeting documents or reports. But s/he cannot understand the articles that is written with professional territory. E.g. The student understand more advanced product design project or equipment import/export negotiation report. But s/he is not able to understand the academic papers discussing product or machinery design.

Writing

能寫一般及專業性摘要、報告、論文、新聞報導等,也能翻譯一般書籍及新聞等,但無法針對各類文章完整有效地闡述及作深入探討。 實例:能針對電影《全面進化》書寫較深入之觀賞心得報告,但由於專業字彙量不足,而無法針對電影的靈感來源「超驗主義」作深入探討。

Students are able to write both formally and casually, and can translate both Chinese academic and general articles to English (or English to Chinese). However, students cannot write highly professional articles such as research reports. E.g. After seeing the movie 'Total Recall', students can write a decent English movie review in a good length, but cannot use many technical terms to talk about it like a movie critic does.
