能閱讀文學作品、專業期刊、學術著作及文獻等專業領域的文章。但閱讀速度及理解程度尚未與母語人士相當。 實例:能閱讀醫學相關期刊,但由於不熟悉新醫學詞彙或相關用語,而使閱讀速度無法與母語人士相當。

Student is able to read literal English work, academic writings and professional articles. But his/her reading and comprehension speed is not as fast as native speakers. E.g. The student understands medical publications, but his/her reading speed is slower than native speakers because s/he is not familiar with medical vocabulary.
